Department of Mines, Industry Regulation & Safety

When the Government of Western Australia Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety (DMIRS) came to Total Uniform Solutions, they were looking for a uniform supplier that had the capability and fast turnaround times to produce their wide uniform range and outfit over 1,500 staff.

From workwear to corporate garments, and built predominantly from stock garments – this range had functionality at its core. Given the wide variety of garments, the embellishment methods were also varied, and suited to the specific fabrics used and the role of the garment.

The DMIRS uniform extends over 5 departments, including Mining, Environmental Protection, Consumer Protection, WorkSafe and Building and Energy. Each department has its own unique requirements. It was our job to cater to these requirements, while also finding efficiencies within the range where we can save DMIRS time, money and effort maintaining a modern uniform range.

The uniform range also featured a core range of garments, with multiple logos applied for the various departments via our in-house embellishment service.

The core range included various work shirts and pants – including high-vis and Fire Resistant garments – overalls, jackets, vests, headwear and PPE items such as knee pads. The corporate range includes shirts, trousers, skirts and polo shirts. Total Uniform Solutions were engaged to oversee all aspects of logistics. Our team applied our quality assurance systems to DMIRS’s pick, pack, embellish and dispatch process.

This system allows us to pass on cost savings to the Department by ordering core items in bulk, and embellishing them with the correct logos as they are ordered. The ordering process has been streamlined for this client as well. Our B2BHub Uniform Management Platform has been customised for this client, ensuring a branded experience for DMIRS staff.

The large uniform range is grouped by roles – so the individual staff only see what garments they are allowed to order from. When staff members order their uniforms, the system automatically sends the order for approval and payment to a manager, with delivery to 16 pre-approved locations across Western Australia.

While our system is flexible and can work in a range of ways to suit the client’s business model or preferred method of uniform management, DMIRS opted for this system to control expenditure and visibility over their ordering patterns. As a result, this has provided them with faster and more accurate online order processing.
